For 74 minutes of the FIFA Confederations Cup final, it looked like a massive upset was taking place.

But that's when Brazil turned the clock to midnight on the American run to the trophy. Luis Fabiano dug the Samba Boys out of a 2-0 deficit before captain Lucio scored in the 84th minute to give the Brazilians a thrilling 3-2 victory and their third Confederations Cup title.

Goals by Clint Dempsey and Landon Donovan 27 minutes into the game gave the Americans a 2-0 lead and flustered the Seleçao for much of the first half, but Fabiano scored less than a minute after the re-start and again in the 74th minute before Lucio brought Brazil all the way back late in the match.

The FIFA World Cup or World Cup is also called the Football World Cup. This sporting event is an international football competition. The participants of this game are the members of the men's national teams of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).

The FIFA World Cup is held every four years and it started in 1930. The tournament has been held ever since except in 1942 and 1946 because of World War II.

The tournament format of the World Cup is that 32 teams will compete for the title at venues within the host nation, this is the World Cup Finals. For 2010, it will be in South Africa.

Currently, the World Cup is the most widely-viewed sporting event in the world, with an estimated 715.1 million people watching the 2006 World Cup final.

Out of the 18 World Cups, 7 countries have already won. Brazil hold the record as the only team that played in all of them and have won the championship five times. At present, Italy holds the World Cup title and has won a total of four championships.

Other countries who have won the World Cup are Germany at three, Uruguay and Argentina with two titles each, and England and France, with one title each.

The 2006 World Cup was held in Germany. This is where Italy defeated France in the finals. The 2014 World Cup will be held in Brazil.
